Bassoonist Kassandra Ormsby is passionate about community outreach, and is an active performer and teacher. As the Private Lessons Coordinator and graduate assistant for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) School of Music and previously the graduate assistant of the Community Outreach Program at the University of Missouri (MU) School of Music, Kassandra is continuing to advocate and create opportunities for music to be accessible to the community.
Kassandra is currently the bassoonist of the UNCG Graduate Woodwind Quintet, and previously performed with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra and Southside Philharmonic Orchestra as second bassoon. Additionally, she has had experience performing with various internationally touring chamber ensembles in Mexico and Brazil. She teaches private lessons to students of all ages. Her mentors include Dr. Micheal J. Burns, Dr. Leigh Muñoz, Dr. Stephanie Patterson, Dr. Ronald Wirt, and Raymond Patricio III. Currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Bassoon Performance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Kassandra Ormsby is a graduate from the University of Missouri with a Master's Degree in Performance, and the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.
